Why it works for children & what’s in it

Step by step

Here’s how.

0 / 4
An easier way today.

Ripe banana and soft avocado blend smoothly in very little time.

What you can prepare ahead

Blend shortly before eating. Do not leave cut avocado and peeled banana uncovered for long.

Got interrupted? Tick off each step as you finish, so you can find your place again here.

When there is room for it today

Helping is welcome. Watching is too.

Your child can put peeled banana in the switched-off blender. Adults cut avocado and operate the appliance.

For your family table

Adapt for younger eaters.

About four small 150 ml glasses. From age 3, offer a smaller amount first. A small addition to a meal, not a thirst quencher or a complete meal replacement. Water remains the everyday drink.

Yoghurt provides protein and calcium. Banana and avocado provide fibre among other nutrients. Avocado makes the smoothie more substantial; a small glass is enough as an addition.

These notes refer to the ingredients in the base recipe. The amount on the plate depends on preparation, portion size and swaps. Variety across the week makes the difference.

Make it work for you.

Use more water for a thinner texture. If needed, replace avocado with soft pear that is already tolerated.

Taking it slowly today?

Offer a small spoonful first; nobody has to try it because it is green. Yoghurt and banana can stay separate.

Keeping it safely

Prepare fresh. Cover untouched leftovers, refrigerate immediately at 5°C or below and use the same day. Discard leftovers from used glasses.
